Apple released an update to the still fresh iWeb ’08. It updates iWeb to version 2.0.1. In typical terse Apple fashion they describe the update as: “These update addresses issues with upgrading and publishing iWeb 1.x websites.” I did have a problem after I upgraded iWeb but no idea if this fixes it. I upgraded iWeb which the upgraded my Domains file (the file is specific to iWeb, it’s not a networking file). I then deleted the website but the domain file still contained the source for the website (1.5MB [...] Read the rest »
Big Waste of Time and Energy Launched
[Update: This site is no longer available.] I finally opened up my new WordPress blog – Big Waste of Time and Energy (BWOTAE.com). I’ve been posting to it for a couple of weeks to see what it would turn into and to see if I’d keep posting to it. I really didn’t pick the name as a theme but it seems to have turned into one. Why I picked the name is covered in the first post. The blog is hosted on WordPress.com so I don’t have to worry about [...] Read the rest »

The OS Quest Trail Log #2
It’s only been four days since my last log entry but I want to get on a weekly cycle with these and weekends seem to be the best time to do it. So here goes… Google Apps I continue to use Google Apps and like it. Really all I use it for is email, but it’s allowed me to consolidate all my email addresses into one mailbox for delivery. I finally got the hang of using search and labels (aka tags) rather than folders and it makes things much quicker [...] Read the rest »
Google Video Sales To Cease

As compensation Google is giving people two bucks to spend via Google checkout. On the positive side, it’s unlikely many people bought videos since the site is shutting down. Another reason to avoid DRM, as if one was needed. Read the rest »

MacMozy Beta Updated to 0.6.2.0
Mozy has updated their Mozy Mac beta software to version 0.6.2.0. Mozy has a list of bug fixes that are in this version and they’ve expanded the scheduling options to detect how busy the Mac is and to not back up if it’s above the threshold that you’ve set. You can also not get alerted if a backup hasn’t occurred in a set number of days. I installed the software and did a manual backup without incident. The Mozy software has been very reliable for me although I don’t have [...] Read the rest »
