It didn’t take long, other outlets are posting their OS X Leopard prices. Apple is promising free delivery on Oct 26th for pre-orders. Others say they’ll ship on the 25th or 26th and charge extra for overnight shipping, although they do have a slower free shipping option. So if you don’t want to pay the Release Day premium here are a couple of other options. Apple is charging $129 (single license) and $199 (family pack).
Amazon is offering a OS X Leopard single license(aff) for $109. They also offer a $20 rebate if you buy Parallels Desktop 3 for Max
(aff) the same time you pre-order Leopard. Amazon is offering the OS X 10.5 Leopard Family Pack
(aff) for $189.
Apple’s educational price is $116.
MacMall is offering prices similar to Amazon and say they’ll ship on Oct 25th so you can get it on the 26th if you pay for overnight delivery:
$20 OFF on Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard - $109 only (After rebate)! Order today for delivery on Oct. 26
Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard Family Pack $189 only! Order today for delivery on Oct. 26(aff)
Of course, you can also wait in line at the Apple Store. They’ll be closing early and re-opening at 6PM (shades of iPhone). I’d expect some lines but not huge and I doubt so stopping by just before closing may be a good idea (rumors are some stores will stay open until midnight but the Apple website says 6-10PM).As for the inevitable complaints about the lack of upgrade pricing. The Windows Vista Home Premium upgrade lists for $160. Even though I’ll be upgrading for “full price” there’s no complaints here.
