Apple has released iPhoto 7.1.1. It was a 10.8 MB download for me through software update and it’s a 9.3MB standalone download. Apple’s back to its terse release notes and just says “This update supports compatibility with Mac OS X 10.5, improves overall stability, and addresses a number of other minor issues.” I installed the update without any problems or noticeable differences in iPhoto. Bento: Personal Database for Leopard

FileMaker, the Apple subsidiary that has a database app by the same name, has released a preview of Bento, which it bills as a personal database. The preview expires Feb 14, 2008 so that’s a good indication of when the first full release will be available and you’ll have to pay for a license. Security Quest #10: Microsoft Patch Tuesday

Another second Tuesday of the month and another bundle of patches from Microsoft was expected. This time around there’s only one update for Microsoft desktops. Windows Vista goes patch-less this month. MS07-061 is a critical update for Windows XP on the desktop. It’s for both the regular and 64-bit editions. It supersedes MS06-045 and patches a vulnerability that allowed remote code execution when a specially crafted URI was passed. Windows 2000 Professional & Windows Vista are not affected. Path Finder Updated with Leopard Integration

Path Finder 4.8.2 has been released by CocoaTech. This release now supports Quicklook when run on Leopard. It can also replace Finder by being the default file viewer when “Reveal in Finder” is used. Since upgrading to Leopard I’ve been trying to stay in Finder as much as possible in order to give it a chance. Coverflow and Quicklook have kept me interested in Finder, only going to Path Finder for special cases. Now with QuickLook in Path Finder it’s going to be harder staying in Finder. Quicklook is activated [...] Read the rest »
