As part of my disclosure and also as a shameless plug:
I have advertising or affilate agreements with the following companies or services. So most links to them (including the ones below) benefit me in some way if you sign up for the service. I prefer programs which have a trial period or a level of service that is free.
Google Adsense
Google adsense provides ads for this site. They are generally labelled “Ads by Google” (the label itself is provided by Google and beyond my control in many cases).
BlueHost
Bluehost is my webhost. This site and my Spam Chroncles site run on their servers.
Mozy Online Backup
I currently have one of the free 2GB accounts with Mozy. I’m trying the Mac client which is currently in beta but I think it holds a lot of promise. The windows version has a lot of nice features but my Windows backup needs are non-existent. It’s a more robust solution on Windows. The referal link gives both of us an extra 256MB. You can also use referral code E62DWM if you got directly to Mozy’s website to get the extra 256MB of storage. Head to the search box and search for Mozy if you want to see what I’m saying about Mozy.
Carbonite Online Backup
I’ve purchased and recommended Carbonite subscriptions for family and friends. The feature list is shorter than Mozy but Carbonite’s strength is it’s ease of use. It’s perfect for someone who just needs basic backup (no historical versions saved) and is easy to use. Green dots on files/directories mean it’s backed up. Yellow dots means it’s part of the backup plan but the latest changes haven’t been backed up.
