Mac Software

Also in this section: Mac Backup Software and Mac Utility Software.

This is the software I used. Visit my Wakoopa profile to see how often. Unless otherwise noted trial versions of all the software is available and they are universal binaries.

Acorn Logo in Black & WhiteAcorn by Flying Meat Inc.

Category: Image Editor
Price: $40 (listed as intro price)
Version: 1.0.3 [Universal Binary]
Low-cost image editor. I’ve had some issues printing (although I haven’t spent a lot of time troubleshooting because I rarely want to print). The printing issues have been resolved either by the upgrade to Leopard or one of the Acorn updates.
Leopard Compatibility: Supported by the developer. I’ve been using this under Leopard without a problem.

Aperture logo in Black & WhiteAperture by Apple Inc.

Category: Digital Photography processing & management
Price: $299 from Apple or buy at Amazon for less
Version: 1.5.6
RAW workflow and photo project management tool.
Note: Camera RAW file support comes from the OS so Aperture supports the same RAW file formats as iPhoto.
Leopard Compatibility: Version 1.5.6 is needed but even then there’s a conflict with Time Machine. Aperture supports these camera RAW file formats under Leopard.

CSSEdit Logo in Black & WhiteCSS Edit by MacRabbit Software

Category: Web Design
Price: $30
Version: 2.6
As the name implies, this is a CSS editor. I use this to maintain the CSS for my site. In a nutshell, it’s great, check out the demo.
Leopard Compatibility:Version 2.6 is officially compatible.

Wallet

Publisher: Waterfall Software
Price: $14.95 (Demo has 10 record limit)
Version: 2.6 (326)

I’m moving away from Wallet and using Yojimbo. I used Wallet to keep a record of my passwords, accounts and other information I want to keep secure.
Leopard Compatibility: I’ve been running this under Leopard without a problem.

Tips:
When creating a new group template that will be used for autofill the user id fields needs to be identified with something along the lines of “User Name”. I created a template where the logon name name is the e-mail address so I called the field “E-mail address” and made it the first field. This did not work. Changing the field name to “User Name (E-Mail)” works with autofill.

My review is in this post.
