Apple released Apple TV 2.1 today which includes support for MobileMe and a new Remote Control app for the iPhone/Touch that will be available in the App store. It also contains several security updates. I updated without a problem or anyt noticeable change. MobileMe has been down and I don’t have an iPhone/Touch. Read the rest »
Video On Demand
I’ve been batting around the concept of being able to have a video and music library available most anywhere in my apartment but didn’t make much progress. It was always easier to pull out the DVD, copy the file, or just go to where the video was easiest to watch. I was recently laid up for a couple of days and couldn’t get around very well, so ended up streaming from iTunes or watching whatever was handy. That was enough to motivate me to start building a video library that [...] Read the rest »
Trail Log #30: Out Sick Edition
Very little activity on the Quest this week as I was sidelined by a bug that’s been going around. This week was my turn. Other than a couple Apple updates and a Windows Home Server update later in the week I didn’t spend much time on the computer. The big update news this week (at least for me) was the release of WordPress 2.5. I had the energy to update my test site yesterday afternoon but quickly ran out of steam. So the upgrade to this site will take place [...] Read the rest »
Apple TV Take 2
Among the other updates Apple has also released Apple TV Take 2 and it’s available for update through your Apple TV settings menu (or you can wait for it to happen automatically). Apple Updates the New iPhoto
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/frontrow131.html Apple has released an update to iPhoto 7, which is the version of iPhoto they announced today. According to the technote “This update to iPhoto addresses issues associated with publishing photos from an upgraded library to .Mac Web Gallery.” I assume this will be available through Software Update but can’t confirm it. It’s a 8.8MB standalone download accessible through the above link (or click the post title if viewing in the sidebar. Read the rest »
Apple TV Adds YouTube and Security
Apple has released version 1.1 of the software for Apple TV. The software includes a security update and support for YouTube videos. I covered my impressions of Apple TV in this post. The software update is only available through Apple TV’s software update feature. Apple TV checks for updates on a weekly basis so Apple TV’s should all be updated within a week. You can also trigger an immediate update by selecting Settings -> Update Software in Apple TV. The update will restart Apple TV. YouTube is encoding the videos [...] Read the rest »
Apple TV First Impressions
I bought an Apple TV a couple of weeks ago and I figured I’d give my first impressions. I’ll jump to the bottom line first to make things easier since the general slant of the review will be positive but the bottom line is less than positive and the Apple TV may not be for you (yet). I bought the Apple TV with birthday money I received. In such cases I like to get something I usually wouldn’t get and the Apple TV fit the bill (and the money just [...] Read the rest »
