The days of using a few floppy disks to backup important files are long gone. In going through my website I realized that the information about my backup strategy was a bit dated and didn’t reflect how I do things. Going through everything in order to write this article would also help me be sure I had a bulletproof backup strategy. The goal is to have a solid backup solution so I never have to use a file recovery tool like Data Rescue II. So here goes… My Backup Philosophy [...] Read the rest »
SuperDuper! Now Leopard Compatible
The long-awaited (at least by me) Leopard compatible version was released in the form of SuperDuper 2.5. Prior to Leopard SuperDuper was a critical part of my backup plan. I haven’t installed the new version yet and since backups require a little more testing beyond just installing the app and making sure it runs, it may be a several days before I switch over to it completely. But it’s nice to see it finally released. The tribulations of getting Leopard & Time Machine compatibility were covered on the Shirt Pocket [...] Read the rest »
Ready For OS X 10.5 Leopard?
[Last updated: Nov. 1st] [Oct. 29th: Now includes a sentence about my experience when using the app. Keep in mind I did fresh installs of everything and restored data.] It’s time to start going through my apps and seeing which are ready for OS X 10.5 Leopard and which aren’t. Superduper! Adds To The Frustrating Journey
The last couple of days have provided several reminders of why the tag line for this blog is “A Frustrating Journey” and Superduper! was one of them. Superduper! is Mac disk cloning software that I wrote about recently and use for my backups. Since writing that I’ve had a couple of problems with Superduper!, the most recent occurred at the same time as I was dealing with my IE problems so it took me awhile to look into it. The first occurrence was a little over a week ago when [...] Read the rest »
Superduper!: Disk Cloning/Backup For Mac
I’d purchased and used Superduper! with my Mac Mini but when I moved to the iMac I stopped using it. I had used it as a cloner and I didn’t really want to do clones as my primary backup anymore (so I thought) so I switched to Apple Backup. Apple Backup has it’s falts (that’s a different story so see my Apple Backup post) so I decided to give Superduper! another spin for doing backups. I don’t remember if I ever used Superduper! on my iMac but it was already [...] Read the rest »
